Armpit sweat can be a nuisance. Armpit sweat can be the source of immense embarrasment. Armpit sweat can be caused by a number of different issues. Armipt sweat has a medical term called hyperhidrosis, also referred to as excessive sweating. Sweat can drip excessively, staining clothing, creating perspiration stains and odor.

Armpit sweat is resistant to most deodorants and antiperspirants. Armpit sweat can also be treated by iontopheresis which is essentially a machine that sends a small amount of current into the sweat glands and paralyzes them temporarily. This can be effective, but the down side is that the machine is very expensive (around $600.00) and must be used for weeks at a time.

There are prescription antiperspirants containing 20% aluminum chloride, which can be very effective but you will need to take time out from your schedule to see a dermatologist or your physician because these are prescription only drugs.
